We’ve done it! Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Primary School have become the first school in North Sefton to be awarded Platinum Award for the School Games Mark. This is a Government led awards scheme, launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. Schools in England are able to assess themselves across bronze, silver and gold levels of the Mark. If a school achieves Gold status for four consecutive years, they are eligible to apply for Platinum. To achieve Platinum, we had to meet all of the criteria for Gold then submit a detailed case study along with a supporting paragraph from our School Games Organisers, Mike Smethurst from Stanley High School. We are now exempt from next year’s School Games Mark award process and will automatically receive the Platinum Award again in 2019. We will also receive a special plaque to commemorate our achievement in the Autumn Term.
