Sustrans Cycling Celebration Afternoon
Last Friday, Liam Brownlow, Rafael Da Silva, Evan Stewart and Erin Turton (5G) joined several other schools from around Sefton in attending the Sustrans Cycling Celebration Afternoon at Ramada Hotel, Southport. At the event, the children presented a PowerPoint to explain to the rest of the schools what 5G did when Henry and Amanda (from Sustrans) visited our school and completed The Big Street Survey. As mentioned in a previous newsletter, 5G created a manifesto on how to make our school area a safer place for pupils and their families to walk or cycle to school.
At the event, they also presented this manifesto to the other schools, Sustrans representatives and members of Sefton Council. The children, at first, were slightly nervous about the large audience, however, this did not show! The children presently in a clear, loud manner and had the audience in the palms of their hands! After thunderous applause, the children listened to other schools, who presented different ways in which they encourage active travel to school. Finally, the event finished with a scrumptious (well deserved) afternoon tea.
As a class, 5G have been working very hard on bringing their manifesto to life. Watch this space….
