At Our Lady of Lourdes we:

LIVE, LOVE, LEARN
.

Our Lady of Lourdes School is proud of its strong links to the Church and we work closely with Fr. Atli Jonsson, parish priest at Our Lady of Lourdes, St. Joseph and St. Teresa.

We also support the children who attend our school from the parishes of St. John Stone and Sacred Heart and from others further across Southport.

In our school community everyone has the opportunity of experiencing the love of Christ through sincere concern for one another. This Christian atmosphere provides the basis for the spiritual, intellectual, social and moral development of the children.

We aim to consider the needs of each individual child and to try to meet these needs.

Our school is fully committed to raising money for good causes, including those in need in our school and parish community. We regularly support charities such a CAFOD, The Rotary Club and The Good Shepherd, as well responding to emergency appeals at times of crisis in the world.

At Our Lady of Lourdes we really do Live, Love, Learn.

CAFOD – BRIGHTEN UP THE HARVEST

Following an assembly led by Mrs Pam Collier, (a volunteer from CAFOD) all of our children thought about ways that they could Brighten Up the lives of those less fortunate…

Children paid £1 to come to school dressed in jazzy socks and shoes, they donned crazy hats and hair, created bright artwork and decorated biscuits using brightly coloured icing. We had fun, for a great cause!

Altogether, we raised £307.25.  Well done and thank you!

ADOREMUS

The Eucharist, which we are able to receive during Mass, was given to the Apostles by Jesus during the Last Supper.  After Jesus changed the bread and wine into His body and blood, He gave it to His Apostles to eat and drink. The bread and wine was changed, actually transformed, into the real Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus, the Son of God.

The words of Jesus Himself, in the Gospel of John: “My flesh is real food and my blood is real drink” (John 6: 55).”  He did not say this will be a symbol, He didn’t say this represents me, He says the Eucharist IS Him!

The National Eucharistic Congress took place in Liverpool in September. This was a focus for our classroom worship.

We should provide time for adoration (to show a deep love and respect) because Jesus has called our children to Him in the Gospel of Matthew, “Let the children come to me, and do not prevent them; for the kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these.”

Matthew 19:14

RED WEDNESDAY!

On Wednesday 28th November, we participated in an awareness building day to illustrate our solidarity for Christians around the world who are being persecuted because of their faith. This has been our focus for Collective Worship this week.

All pupils and adults were asked to wear an item of red with their uniform. We listened to scripture, namely Galatians 5, which speaks of Christian Liberty and discussed why it is important to respect other people’s religions.

ADVENT GIVING

Thank you to all of our families who have been able to support us with this year’s Advent Giving appeal.

Your generosity throughout the year has, as always been unfailing.

We have collected 232 boxes filled with the most thoughtful and practical of gifts which will be put to such good use by needy families.

“And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for such sacrifices God is pleased.” Hebrews 13:16

CHRISTMAS JUMPER DAY 2018

This year’s Christmas Jumper Day was another huge success. We raised money for CAFOD and decided to spend it on items for the World Gifts catalogue. We raised a grand total of £345 and so we bought: a marvellous moo cow, a goat that gives, water for a family, a terrific toilet, help for a llama farmer and two gifts of teaching someone to read.

Thank you to all of our families who contributed.
